AOE Arts Council (AOE) is a dynamic arts council that works with the community to develop partnerships, audiences, information and visibility for the arts. It is a champion within the Ottawa arts circle as it supports area artists and art organizations by providing resources, services, programs and advocacy to include:

Advocacy

  • Representation through AOE’s role as an arts advocate at the municipal, provincial and federal levels.
  • Receive timely information and opportunities about art sector issues.

Arts Information

  • Receive weekly arts information and opportunities by email.
  • Receive important AOE news bulletins by email.
  • Receive quarterly copies of AOE’s ARTnews magazine either in print or by email.
  • Access to links, news and resources on the artsoe.ca website.

Website

  • Online access to maintain an artist or arts organization profile and photos to promote yourself and your work
  • Online access to post opportunities to share with the arts community.
  • Online access to promote their events with AOE audiences and the public.

Exhibit Spaces and Events

  • Opportunity to participate in SELECTIONS, AOE’s annual visual art exhibit held in the Trinity Art Gallery located at the Shenkman Arts Centre.
  • Opportunity to showcase work in the AOE Gallery.
  • Opportunity to participate in AOE events.

Resource Library

  • Access and ability to borrow material from a collection of documents, videos, audio, books and periodicals that cover all art disciplines, arts administration, research on the arts and the Ottawa arts scene.

Marketing Support

  • Supply publicity material for the infoARTs kiosks located at the Shenkman Arts Centre and Place d’Orléans shopping centre.
  • Access up-to-date regional English and French media contact lists.
  • Opportunity to submit events for the online Events listing and emailed announcements.
  • Opportunity to submit content or be profiled in AOE’s ARTnews magazine.
  • Provide promotional material for quarterly membership mailings.
  • Access to marketing advice and best practices via the Director of Communications.

Office Support

  • Opportunity to use an office space at AOE Arts Council with access to the Internet, Windows Office Suite, printer, local faxing and local phone calls.
  • Ability to make photocopies at preferred rates.
  • Ability to reserve equipment and AOE meeting space at preferred rates.
  • Ability to hold local conference calling in the AOE meeting space at preferred rates.
  • Opportunity to have a mailbox and mailing address at the Shenkman Arts Centre.

Professional Development

  • Opportunity to participate in AOE Workshops at preferred rates.
  • Opportunity to attend AOE Speaker Series at preferred rates.
  • Opportunity to facilitate an AOE workshop, be a guest speaker or lead a community arts project.
  • Opportunities through AOE’s referral service.
  • Receive contact information and links to professional consulting services or resources.
  • Access to organizational and professional development advice via AOE staff.

Networking

  • Receive notices about AOE activities and events.
  • Attend potlucks and meet n’ munch gatherings to meet other AOE members and special guests.
  • Opportunity to vote at AOE’s AGM and attend the reception.
